Support for Animated GIF has been enhanced! Previously, uploaded GIFs would be converted to a video. We recognize that GIFs as rudimentary as they are can have several advantages over videos, as long as they're small enough file-size wise!
Recognizing this, we've now made some changes in how we handle GIF uploads: GIFs which are uploaded to galleries will now be retained and rendered as a GIF, if the total file size is less than 1.5MB. If the file is larger it will automatically be converted to a video as normal. If you've previously uploaded GIF files which match this criteria then you should find these files are now rendering as GIFs too!
